What to Expect for 2021 Graduation

Graduation season is among us and I am both eager and a little sad about ending my college career at the best university on the planet! Oxford and the Ole Miss family will forever be my second home and I cannot wait to visit for football games and Double Decker weekend. Growing up with two older sisters, I know how boring commencement can be. Having to listen to thousands of students' names and waiting for hours to watch the one person you came for to walk across the stage and receive their diploma. Talk about a long day! Well, the good thing is there is more than one ceremony and the graduates are not forced to attend all of them. In this article, I will tell you everything you need to know about Spring 2021 graduation.

With the current Covid protocols and the ending of the mask mandate for Mississippi, hopefully, the 2021 commencement will look a little more normal than we were expecting. The venue's capacity will depend on the state's orders at that time, so nothing is set in stone right now but constantly be checking the Ole Miss website for updates regarding Covid restrictions.

Morning convocation will begin at 8 a.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. At this ceremony, you can expect to see a guest speaker and speeches from the Chancellor and one or two other professors. Technically, it is not mandatory for students to attend this ceremony and they will not be walking or receiving anything. Fingers crossed the weather will be enjoyable, but be assured they will have a back-up plan if necessary which will be announced closer to graduation. There is no information on tickets, but make sure to constantly look out for those announcements before inviting extended family and friends to convocation.

Various schools and colleges will have a separate ceremony, which is when you will see your daughter or son walk across the stage. Again, the ticket information has not been announced yet, so be on the lookout on our social media platforms and the Ole Miss website. Here is a list of the 2021 graduation schedule. Congratulations Class of 2021, you did it!

Graduation is a significant milestone in one’s educational journey, representing years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. As students don their caps and gowns, they celebrate not only their achievements but also the friendships and memories made along the way. However, the pressure to succeed can sometimes lead individuals to consider shortcuts, such as turning to a fake degree maker for an instant credential. While the allure of a quick solution may seem tempting, it’s essential to remember that genuine education and experiences hold far more value in the long run. True graduation signifies not just the attainment of a degree, but the knowledge, skills, and character developed throughout the process.
