Known as “The South’s Best Food Town” by Southern Living, you will not go hungry while visiting Oxford. The Square is home to several great places to eat, with restaurants around every corner. Here’s a list of some of our favorite places you should give a try during your visit(s) to Oxford!
My Michelle’s initially opened a catering business, but now also has a restaurant located right on Old Taylor Road. With a cool, hip atmosphere, My Michelle’s is a great place to go grab lunch or to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. Their menu offers a wide variety of healthy options and plated lunch specials that change daily. For last-minute cooking without all the prep, stop by the restaurant and check out the ‘Grab & Go’ options such as casseroles and dips. Keep My Michelle’s in mind for Grove and event catering as well!
If you’re looking for something unique, give Hawaii Poke and Grill a try! This newly opened restaurant brings tropical flavor to the Oxford community. The themed music and tiki hut bar make you feel like you’re in a Hawaiian paradise! Their large menu offers a variety of exotic dishes such as Poke bowls, Saimin noodle soup and pineapple fried rice. The restaurant also has great outdoor patio seating!
Volta is a local favorite! The low-key eatery in a converted gas station is located on N Lamar Blvd. Their Greek menu offers gyros, pizza, excellent margaritas and more! They also have great patio seating for guests that wish to enjoy their food outside.
Jinsei, located on N Lamar Blvd, is a contemporary Japanese restaurant with a modern atmosphere. They have an extensive sushi menu, offering both raw and cooked rolls. If you’re thirsty, Jinsei has a great big bar with delicious mojitos and a variety of Sake options to accompany your Japanese meal!
Julep Steakhouse is a brand-new restaurant located on the Square, in the old Fill-Up with Billups location. They are currently preparing to open their doors for business within the next few weeks. The restaurant’s namesake is modeled around a cool, crisp southern libation – the classic mint julep, which was William Faulkner’s favorite beverage. Julep will feature several “flights” of food and liquor so customers can get a true taste of Julep. The flights will consist of wine and bourbon, as well as different salad and food flights.
The City Grocery Restaurant Group includes City Grocery, Boure, Big Bad Breakfast, Snackbar and the Main Event Catering. These various restaurants offer a variety of dishes, from burgers to biscuits. City Grocery and Boure and located on the Square. Big Bad Breakfast and Snackbar are off N. Lamar Blvd. Additionally, the group will be opening a new restaurant on the Square in Stella’s former location!
Zaap Thai Kitchen offers customers amazing, authentic Thai cuisine. It’s quite easy to miss so stay on the lookout- it’s located next to a gas station on N. Lamar Blvd. I recommend the Chicken Pad Thai! It’s to die for!
This family-friendly pizza place on College Hill Road has the coolest atmosphere - and GREAT pizza! They also have great salads and appetizers, a nice bar upstairs, and spacious outdoor seating on both levels. (BONUS: they are next door to Crave - a YUMMY dessert spot!)
Just off the lobby inside the Graduate hotel is a quaint café known as Cabin 82. Open from 6:30 am – 4:30 pm, Cabin 82 hits the sweet spot for a good southern breakfast. Their specialties include house made chicken as well as buttermilk biscuits. They also serve lunch along with cocktails amid the vintage vibe of the Graduate hotel.
Southern Table Bar and Grill is a hidden gem located on Thacker Drive. Their great food, live music, patio and happy hour makes it a great spot to come with the family to enjoy a steak dinner. Southern Table Bar and Grill hosts happy hour Monday – Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm.
A few blocks north of the square on Lamar Blvd is home to a gas station-turned-restaurant called Oxford Canteen. Open from 8am-8pm, it’s the perfect pit stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Oxford Canteen serves unique breakfast options such avocado toast and breakfast tacos. This hip restaurant is a local favorite!
Away from the hustle and bustle of the Square off South Lamar sits Ravine. Ravine is a fine dining establishment that serves American cuisine such as steak, scallops and more. They also offer brunch, Sunday supper and Wednesday night tapas. The peaceful and intimate atmosphere makes for a romantic date night.
Located on 499 Heritage Drive, Pizza Den serves pizza and sandwiches. Not only are their prices extremely reasonable for the amount of food you are getting, but they are also on Landshark Delivery!
If you’re craving some good barbeque, Handy Andy is the place to go! This local hometown business is not only known for its barbeque, but cheeseburgers and fried hotdogs as well. A great Oxford staple located off North Lamar Blvd- check it out!
Mamma Joe's Country Cookin’ sits off Ole Highway 7 N and is known for their fried chicken! If you’re in need of some comfort food, head over for some of their sweet tater pie. Good southern cooking at a great price!
Mundo Latino is a hole-in-the-wall Taco Shop right off of University Avenue. They’re known for their authentic street tacos and have an excellent traveler rating on trip advisor. This is a must-try if you’re craving authentic Mexican food!
Rice and Spice is located off West Jackson Ave. This place is a huge hit with Ole Miss students! The outside might not look too inviting, but their cozy atmosphere and delicious food makes up for it.
Luv Shack sits on 2625F West Oxford Loop and serves breakfast and brunch. Their friendly atmosphere makes it a great place to sit down and enjoy a fresh coffee, bagel or a homestyle lunch.
6 ‘n TUBBS is a New York style pizzeria that sits on W Oxford Loop. Being a local hotspot, not many out-of-towners know it exists. If you don’t feel like leaving your comfy couch at home, you can always order 6 ‘n TUBBS via Landshark Delivery!
Phillips Grocery is truly a hidden gem. Located off South Lamar Blvd, you might miss it if you don’t know what you’re looking for. This burger joint has a cozy atmosphere and is known for its mushroom Swiss burger!
Holy Crab and Sushi opened their doors for business in January and has been a huge hit among Ole Miss students. Located at 705 Sisk Avenue, they have an extensive menu that includes a cocktail/martini page, sushi rolls and a wide range of seafood options. Their beachy vibe gives customers a vacation-at-home experience.
