Mississippi Day Trips Part 3: Ecru & Pontotoc

662marketing

The small town of Ecru, Mississippi is 34 miles east of Oxford, and totally worth the drive! I recommend going on Friday or Saturday so you can finish your day trip with an amazing catfish dinner at Ecru Fish & Steak (only open on Friday and Saturday). Make sure to pack a cooler with ice packs and stop at McCoy’s Grocery. People drive from all over to this specialty meat market!

After you fill your cooler at McCoy's, head on down to Ecru’s Main Street and do some shopping! Here are a few places to go:

Wood + Cloth is a furniture and home decor store that specials in all things custom. Locally hand-built farm tables, customized upholstery, beautiful rugs and wonderful interior design assistance, to boot!

Aleigh’s Envy and The Mustard Seed are clothing boutiques that offer the latest fashions at affordable prices!

Flowers on Main is a cute flower shop that offers beautiful fresh arrangements.

• If you’re in the midst of a remodeling or building project, check out Distinctive Design. This store has lots of beautiful floor covering, tile, cabinets and countertops.

For lunch, grab a Trolley burger at The Main Street Trolley! This family-run diner has an extensive menu or southern favorites with daily specials and to-die-for homemade desserts. Just a few miles past downtown is the Cherry Creek Orchard. They grow fresh fruit and the grove is breathtaking! If you visit in the fall you can go pick apples!

Ecru is less than 10 miles from downtown Pontotoc, MS - another small town that offers a variety of amazing shopping! Here are a few places in Pontotoc to check out while you’re in the area:

Happy day tripping! Please let us know if you visit any of these small towns and find another shop, restaurant or attractions that we need to add to these articles. We will be posting updated Day Trip articles in the Spring!
