February is just around the corner and this week we are focusing on how to keep those resolutions going strong here in Oxford. Finding healthy food on any college campus seems to be an impossible mission (even more so in Mississippi), bur Ole Miss actually has plenty of great options featured below. Send to your child that resolved to trade in the pizza sticks!
Freshii:
Definitely the best place on campus to find health food that is quick and yummy. Located in the Paul B Johnson Commons, it offers salads, wraps, soups, bowls, juices and all kinds of healthy goodness. See more here.
Rebel Market:
Also located in the Paul B Johnson building, Rebel Market is a cafeteria style dining hall. While there is plenty of pizza, pasta and desserts to go around, they also offer different healthy options each day. There is always a salad bar and an array of healthy dishes such as chicken and veggies or turkey burgers. They even have gluten free options! Check out the daily menu here.
Chick-Fil-A:
If your student has more self-control than I do at Chick-Fil-A, they can opt for the grilled chicken nuggets, grilled chicken sandwich or grilled cool wrap. Each are under 400 calories and can be served with a side salad or fruit cup! Chick-Fil-A is located in the Student Union and is very popular among students.
Qdoba:
The Mexican grill located in the Union offers a “Naked Burrito” AKA a burrito without the tortilla. They also have a taco salad which is delicious. Depending on which toppings, each of these are usually just under 400 calories.
Einstein’s Bagels:
This bagel shop in Anderson Hall has a variety of bagel thin and egg white breakfast sandwiches, making it the perfect breakfast stop on the way to class. Plus they are all under 400 calories too!
I’m sure there are other healthy menu choices at other restaurants on campus, this is just a list of some of the most popular! Stay tuned this week for more tips and tricks to keeping those resolutions while school is in session…
